The Hyperion String Quartet is among the top ten string quartets chosen from around the world to compete in the 7th annual International Chamber Music Competition in Osaka, Japan this May. The top prize for this competition is $30,000 and includes a month-long concert tour in Japan beginning in November, 2011.

In preparation for the competition, the quartet will present a concert series to the public on April 20 and 21 at 8:00pm, sponsored by the College of Saint Rose at their Massry Performing Arts Center, Picotte Recital Hall. Hyperion will perform works by Haydn, Janacek, Mendelssohn, and Shostakovich. Tickets will be free for St. Rose students and Empire State Youth Orchestra students. Tickets for adults will be $10.
