The Hyperion String Quartet is excited about their upcoming project with the San Diego State University Dance Department. This project is unique in its combination of different styles of music as well as multiple performing arts disciplines. The performances will include Tan Dun's "Eight Colors for String Quartet" and selections from Alberto Ginastera's String Quartet No. 1 in collaboration with choreography by Patricia Sandback, professor of dance at SDSU. The repertoire combines traditional classical music with influences from the composer's homeland, with Tan Dun recreating the theater and drama of China's Peking Opera, and Ginastera channeling the energy and vitality of Argentina's countryside. The performances will take place at ENS 200 at SDSU on Friday, November 17 and Saturday, November 18 at 8 pm, and Sunday, November 19 at 3 pm.
